Hello everybody,
I'm trying to remove the protection from some wmv files.
But i'm on Windows 7 professional RTM (so WMP 12.0.7600) and i have tried several program but there are many problems like :
- programs are not compatible
- video conversion is ok, but there is no sound (when i'm using Daniusoft Digital Media Converter (http://undrm.info/remove-DRM-protection/Daniusoft-Digital-Media-Converter-Convert-copy-protected-WMA-WMV-M4A-M4V.htm))
There is no way to convert a wmv protected file on Windows 7 pro ?
Thanks in advance and sorry if there are some mistakes, i'm frenchman. ;) (And not really good in english :( !)

After many research and test, i've found the way to remove DRM from WMV files on Windows 7 Pro. :)
It's not a classic way, but that works !
i'll try to explain my solution (with my basic english).
First step, go on http://www.microsoft.com/windows/virtual-pc/ and follow the instructions to install a virtual machine with xp. (It's free.)
Second step, download windows media player 11 and install on your virtual machine
Third step, install a software of your choice (http://undrm.info/remove-DRM-protection/)
Final step, enjoy ! ;)
Note : The network between the virtual machine and your computer is automatically created, each hard drive is shared, there is no configuration to do.

Virtual PC is free for Windows 7 Professional and Windows 7 Ultimate. For many other OSes including different versions of Windows you may use freeware Virtual Box.
Also when removing DRM protection from videos, you can use screen video capture software (http://all-streaming-media.com/record-video-from-screen/) instead of DRM removal software (http://undrm.info/remove-DRM-protection/). The former is more universal and in most cases you won't even notice any disadvantages in using it unless you use lossless DRm removal software like freeme2 (http://undrm.info/remove-DRM-protection/freeme2-freeware-lossless-DRM-remover-for-Windows-Media-WMV-WMA-files.htm) and FairUse4WM (http://undrm.info/remove-DRM-protection/FairUse4WM-freeware-DRM-removal-Windows-software-Strip-copy-protection-from-WMV-ASF-WMA-Windows-Media-Player.htm).
Replay Video Capture (http://all-streaming-media.com/record-video-from-screen/Replay-Video-Capture-Make-high-quality-recordings-from-anything-you-see-on-PC-screen.htm) / WM Capture (http://all-streaming-media.com/record-video-from-screen/WM-Capture-screen-video-capture-software-that-records-with-high-quality.htm) use Universal audio driver, so you shouldn't have any problems recording sound with them on Windows 7.

I have an issue with those recording programs. Everything I try(especially HD matterial) and copy comes out with skipping all over the place. The Audio is fine, but the video in high movement scenes studders and skips. I am even on a high end machine and it is giving me problems. So the DRM removal thing seems to be better suited for HD matterial.

You need a very powerful computer to re-record HD videos.
