To remove DRM protection (strip copy protection) from Napster (http://all-streaming-media.com/downloadable-audio-and-video/Napster-free-music-service.htm), Yahoo! Music Unlimited (http://all-streaming-media.com/downloadable-audio-and-video/Yahoo-Music-Unlimited-Cheap-music-subscription-service.htm) and other PlayForSure music services you may use FairUse4WM. It can strip DRM protection from Windows Media 10 and 11 .WMA, .WMV, .ASF audio and video files

Now your legitamately purchased music works on any device you have. No more "you can listen to this music as much as you like...just not on your iPod, and many many music players." You are not limited to PlaysForSure-compatible music players anymore.

I've got some tracks I ripped from CD's I bought and I want to download higher quality versions but can't find my CDs. I have the receipts proving I purchased them though.

I was able to use Fairuse4wm to remove DRM on subscription files from the Rhapsody service. They use 160kbps WMA files. I'd prefer to use Yahoo's 192kbps WMA files though. However when I try to use Fairuse4wm on those, I get an error to the effect of 'it does not appear you are the owner of the license' Why it works on Rhapsody and not on Yahoo I'm not sure. I'm using Fairuse4wm version 1.3 and my Windows Media version is 10.00.00.4036

Any troubeshooting suggestions would be greatly appreciated.

Different license types are used. You may read about one-play licenses at

Figured out the problem. I was subscribed to the standard Yahoo Service, not the Music To Go Service.
