Hi, I am trying to remove DRM from some videos I have downloaded. I have legal rights to the videos and tried the fairuse program. I was able to remove DRM from some test files but not from the videos I have. Do you have any suggestions on what else I can try? I dont mind using a "lossy" application if that is my only option. Thanks for your time.

What kind of file extensions does your videos have?
Can these files be played with Windows media Player?

You can always re-record any videos using screen capture software (http://all-streaming-media.com/record-video-stream/screen-capture-software.htm) even the free ones.

As for lossy DRM removal software, I know about Tunebite (http://all-streaming-media.com/remove-DRM-protection/TuneBite-Convert-DRM-protected-WMV-M4P-M4V-video-WMA-AAC-M4B-AA-music-audio-books-preserving-ID3-tags.htm) Premium only.

Anyway all the programs on our web-site are free or free to try so at least you don't have to buy anything before trying.

Hey thanks for the responce,
The file format is primarily .avi's, If you were in my situation and you were unable to strip the DRM, what whould you do to preserve the video files? Thanks again.

I could be wrong, but I don't think AVI specification allows DRM protection.
If you can't play them, try to install necessary codecs. You may use K-Lite Codec Pack, for example. Every DRM removal software I know requires playable files.

Another way if you have an older Analogue DVD recorder with a HDD. You could back up the disk onto the HDD and then write it back to a disk. In other word by taking it from Digital to Analogue the DRM is no longer present.

You can use either a DVD recorder or capture cards:
Capture from screen when a screen recorder doesn't work

If your graphics card has a component video out, you will be able to record even HD videos.
