can anyone please recommend software that will enable me to record streamed audio as FLAC (lossless) files?
i am using 'replay' which is great at saving as WAV but i would like my files to be the better quality FLAC format.
i would be particularly interested in free software but any suggestions would be appreciated.
thanks for reading this and best wishes.

WAV is a lossless format like FLAC. And you can convert WAV to FLAC to reduce file size after recording.

You may also use free sound editor called Audacity (http://all-streaming-media.com/edit-audio-video/Audacity-free-sound-editor-Windows-Linux-MacOSX.htm) to record any sound produced by your sound card. But it doesn't support song splitting and tagging.

Also you don't lose any quality when downloading/capturing/ripping audio stream, so it is always better to use stream rippers/recorders than direct sound recording software like Audacity.

I suggest you to consider streaming media recording (http://all-streaming-media.com/record-video-stream/all-streaming-video-recording-software.htm) and streaming audio recording software (http://all-streaming-media.com/record-audio-stream/all-streaming-audio-recording-software.htm) before recording from your sound card.
