It used to be easy. But, now the site seems to decide what is best for you and I don't have a new system and it always records the streams in non-HD (640 x 360 pixels).

Is there any way to circumvent this problem? This isn't a primetime show so I can't just google it and get links like I normally do.

I have both GetFLV (http://all-streaming-media.com/record-video-stream/GetFLV-Download-and-convert-flash-video-streaming.htm) which works on cbs and Replay Media Catcher (http://all-streaming-media.com/record-video-stream/Replay-Media-Catcher-HTTP-RTMP-FLV-MP3-ripper-recorder.htm) which also works.

I have this exact same problem! Can anyone help me out please? I use Replay Media Catcher (http://all-streaming-media.com/record-video-stream/Replay-Media-Catcher-HTTP-RTMP-FLV-MP3-ripper-recorder.htm) 4 (Jaksta) Recorder. Please... :)

I have been trying to find an answer to my problem but noone can seem to help me out.

I am trying to download the HD video stream from CBS.com.
CBS has changed it now so when you view a video, it detects how fast your internet connection is and displays the optimal video quality for your connection and you cannot change this.

My connection speed just isn't quite fast enough for it to automatically choose the HD.

I can download the stream with Replay Media Catcher (http://all-streaming-media.com/record-video-stream/Replay-Media-Catcher-HTTP-RTMP-FLV-MP3-ripper-recorder.htm) 4 (Jaksta) no worries but it isnt in HD (I assume this is because of my internet speed).

Is there any way at all to force it to display/or download the HD video stream? Any apps or other methods? I have tried 'GetFLV (http://all-streaming-media.com/record-video-stream/GetFLV-Download-and-convert-flash-video-streaming.htm)' but it doesnt work either.
I really hope you can help. Thanks in advance if you can.

My connection is not fast enough to watch HD video from CBS, so I can't record them as well. CBS shows SD videos to me, and I don't have any problem detecting RTMP URLs of these shows as well as downloading or capturing them with software like Replay Media Catcher (http://all-streaming-media.com/record-video-stream/Replay-Media-Catcher-HTTP-RTMP-FLV-MP3-ripper-recorder.htm).

If you can't find stream URLs of HD videos, you can try to use get-flash-videos.

p.s.
I've notified the developer of RMC about the problem with adaptive streaming. Hopefully he will be able to find a solution.

Hi,
I have been trying to do the exact same thing for weeks now for the same show and still can't figure it out! Has anyone worked out how to do it? Very frustrating!
Thanks :)

Start recording with Replay Media Catcher (http://all-streaming-media.com/record-video-stream/Replay-Media-Catcher-HTTP-RTMP-FLV-MP3-ripper-recorder.htm) 4. After detecting the stream URL, cancel the download. Double click on the recording and copy the URL from the top of the log. Then go to "Tools" -> "Download..." and paste the URL, replacing 480p with 720p.

Just tried this trick. Changed the following URL

Just tried this trick. Changed the following URL

i think that CBS streaming url's have changed. they look different now. for
_http://www.cbs.com/primetime/big_bang_theory/video/?vs=Full%20Episodes
RMC4 catches url's such as:
rtmp://cp48590.edgefcs.net/ondemand/?auth=dbEdza.aocWdXdud_dKbIdLacb0a2aAa7a1-bnSaYe-h0-buy-J9yMgWrg&aifp=v001&slist=video/temp_hd_gallery_video/CBS_Production/761/720/<break>video/temp_hd_gallery_video/CBS_Production/761/720/CBS_BIGBANG_420_CONTENT_CIAN__655336.mp4

So there's no "480p" or "720p" in the url which could be edited.
Please could you confirm? (Which testpage url did you use?)

, and RMC downloaded the 1280x720 video stream.
i cant confirm that CBS streams in high resolution format (1280x720). i can only confirm that CBS streams in high bitrate format (640x360: in 400kbps vs. 700kbps vs. 1200kbps).

The highest quality which Replay Media Catcher (http://all-streaming-media.com/record-video-stream/Replay-Media-Catcher-download-and-capture-streaming-music-radio-video.htm) (RMC)4 or GetFLV (http://all-streaming-media.com/record-video-stream/GetFLV-Download-and-convert-flash-video-streaming.htm) download is 640x360 in 1200kbps.

Important to note that "HD" streams are only available thru:
http://www.cbs.com/hd/

Taking the first HD video of the Survivor show (http://www.cbs.com/hd/?show=survivor) (see screenshot):

My apologies for the lateness. Thank you for all the responses.

I would very much like to try this again. A problem is that I can't find the HD links. Due to my location, they just don't appear and I know they exist. Is there a way to find the HD links found on cbs.com/hd another way. The ones I want will not even show up in search using a proxy and they definitely exist.

just tell us which video/videos you are interested in. there are enough ppl here with vpn or with true US residency who can check if your show is posted in HD on cbs.com

if your video/videos is a popular TV series episode (or complete season or complete series), then it's maybe easier and more rewarding to download them from Amazon Instant Video (http://stream-recorder.com/forum/recording-amazon-instant-video-demand-vod-t8884.html) for FREE.

you should appreciate my investigative screenshots which are clear enough for both the clever and the dumb to understand in a direct or indirect way:

the existence of the tiny "HD"-button does not depend on you or your system. it depends on the very video itself. if a particular video exists in HD-format, then there will be the tiny "HD"-button (e.g. the one Survivor episode) for everybody in the world equally the same.

here another original fresh screenshot. look for which video clip there is some HD-button and where there is only the "HQ"-button. not every show in the HD-gallery has the HD-button.
http://img706.imageshack.us/img706/8636/snap28.th.gif (http://img706.imageshack.us/img706/8636/snap28.gif)

Unless you (or somebody else from The States) proves me wrong (e.g. by screenshots of emails by CBS responsibles, or other kind of authentic, official and original screenshots) with what i've stated in this thread, this was now the final word on the existence of CBS HD videos.

Thanks for replying. Perhaps I could have phrased my issue better but I'm aware of what you said, I can post a screen shot as well. Since I have been able to get HD shows in the past from cbs.com/hd, I know how it works with the hd/hd button. I've seen the HD content posted so I know it exists. My issue is the search function and what results are yielded. Search results vary greatly depending on location. For now, I'm giving up on it and am getting the HD from elsewhere even though it's lesser quality than cbs.

HD content is posted online if the stuff is recent or current and not too oldish. When, after some time (maybe months?), the stuff becomes aged, they remove the HD option for that particular video (maybe to free server space? lol). That's why you cannot find any/much old material in HD. At least not on the TV channel sites (nbc, cbs, abc, etc). They even remove complete videos if the stuff is very old (or for whatever other reason). For old videos or HD videos the meta sites might be useful: Hulu.com, TV.com, ..

My issue is the search function and what results are yielded. Search results vary greatly depending on location.
Maybe. But we're talking here of valid U.S. ip addresses. I'm positive that for any continental U.S. resident the search results are exactly the same; and if i use an unblacklisted U.S. proxy server my search results will match them identically.

In any case, if you need HD streams of a particular show on CBS, just name it, and we will check it.

Again, maybe the best site to download FREE HD videos (e.g. HD versions of TV shows/episodes/series) is Amazon Instant Video (http://all-streaming-media.com/downloadable-audio-and-video/Unbox-video-download-service-purchase-or-rent-movies-cartoons-TV-shows-educational-videos.htm). They carry tons of old seasons, complete series, a.o. in full HD.

I can post a screen shot as well.
Do so to support your statements. (Otherwise i will begin to ignore you. (but dont take it personally lol))
