I was asked to produce a tape of my voice reading a few paragraphs, and some pieces that would be like commercials. Since my ears don't work real well, I have never paid much attention to sound software.
Now I have an need to find software quickly.
Being as my job just went from 5 days to 3 days, I have to do it on the cheap.
What software would you suggest?
Note, running XP
Thanks VERY much,

I guess that you can record your voice with almost any direct sound recording software (http://all-streaming-media.com/record-audio-stream/direct-sound-recording.htm). It is more important to have a nice mic and sound card.

You may use freeware Ask & Record Toolbar (http://all-streaming-media.com/record-video-stream/Ask-Record-Toolbar-freeware-streaming-video-downloader-and-audio-recorder.htm), Freecorder Toolbar (http://all-streaming-media.com/record-audio-stream/FreeCorder-Toolbar-Free-sound-recorder-software-Windows.htm), MP3DirectCut (http://all-streaming-media.com/edit-audio-video/MP3DirectCut-free-MP3-editor-Cut-copy-paste-change-volume.htm) or Audacity (http://all-streaming-media.com/edit-audio-video/Audacity-free-sound-editor-Windows-Linux-MacOSX.htm). The latter program allows you to edit files, so it might be a better solution in your case.
