Hi, I am trying to capture this stream:
http://www.globaltv.com/thelateshowwithstephencolbert/video/episode/chelsea-handler/video.html?v=627201603968

When I put the link into ffmpeg, I keep getting the error "Unable to open keyfile" with a link that starts with faxs://

Is this video DRM protected completely or is there a way to get the key file to decrypt it? Thanks.

The video does look like it has a lower resolution even on the website itself. Did you get it to work with FFMpeg or another utility? Please let me know how, thanks.

Hey, thanks for the links! How did you find the direct link? I don't need to use a proxy since I am in Canada.

Thanks again for your help stinkfoot. Again, if anyone knows how to bypass the "Unable to open key" error in FFMpeg, please let me know. I've read that part of the solution is to pass it the right cookie but I can't figure out which cookie needs to be passed. I would like to know how as GlobalTV is not the only site I've seen use this kind of protection.

Using the code:

livestreamer "hls://http://globaltvdrm.smdg.ca/131/63/1831_xd9ca159dab8e44a4a2ae0e367d56cdb3/GLOB0054727330000902_1_movie_highest_16x9_xd9ca159 dab8e44a4a2ae0e367d56cdb3.m3u8?__hdnea__=st=145625 2492~exp=1456253092~acl=/131/63/GLOB0054727330000902_1_movie_highest_16x9.m3u8*~hm ac=982373829aa5ac3b8acd80d72217639553de005d2239141 ec1decd1bac68a90d&faxs=1" best

I get the following error:

[stream.hls][error] Failed to create decryptor: Unable to open URL: faxs://faxs.adobe.com?EncryptedRK=0x025bded8196de208781b3 bd61172b174 (No connection adapters were found for 'faxs://faxs.adobe.com?EncryptedRK=0x025bded8196de208781b3 bd61172b174')

Did you use a different referrer or change User Agent maybe?

All I can find is that ffmpeg and livestreamer can decrypt it if you pass them "the cookie". I haven't been able to figure out which cookie that is and I'm not sure how stinkfoot managed to get the files.

Doubt it, all that i've run into are faxs streams which needs more than a cookie to authenticate and download -- he did it some other way i'm certain.

I'm also interested in downloading from Global and haven't been able to find a workaround either. I get the same error regarding to faxs.
