Hi all, I'm new here and am interested in being able to use Audacity (http://all-streaming-media.com/edit-audio-video/Audacity-free-sound-editor-Windows-Linux-MacOSX.htm) to record an audio stream from off the internet. I play bass in a cover band, and we need some new material- I though going to youtube and recording some stuff off there might be handy.

Yesterday I hooked up a small Yamaha mixer to my stereo- I routed from the computer's Soundmax Digital soundcard to the mixer; then I sent two sets of signals out to the stereo- one to the reciever to hear the tunes, another to a cassette recorder for capture.

I'd rather do it digitally of course, as the cassette machine is an old Optimus gadget... it plays alright, but it's not a great recorder. Today I hooked up my old Tascam US-428 (a USB device) to the computer and am now using it as my only soundcard.

Can I get a quick run-down of how to route the sound coming into the computer through my Tascam US-428, and into Audacity (or Cool Edit, etc)? Thank you for your time and trouble!

Rog.
