Hi,
i am new here and am hoping that someone can help or explain....
i want to try to record a panorama recording that i have watched on my pc from the panorama site:

i was trying to use url snooper2 and streambox...it finds the url needed and begins to record it shows a total of 81.4mb to download but after only 14ish mb it stops and says its finished. on play back it appears all the audio has been recorded but the video footage only plays one frame every 5 or 6 seconds.

i havs since tried wmrecorder [demo] to see if it is any better but it still does the same for the bit it can download in the demo version.

i have a 7.5mb download broadband, usually runs about 3mb, i did not have any other downloads in progress. the footage plays ok on real player but i wanted to be able to copy and play on my home dvd.

please can anyone help???

WM Recorder (http://all-streaming-media.com/record-video-stream/WMRecorder-One-click-online-audio-video-stream-recorder.htm) records the entire video OK (file size 74.102 MB). The stream URL is shown below:

rtsp://rmv8.bbc.net.uk:554/news/olmedia/n5ctrl/tvseq/od/bbc1/bb/rm/video/panorama_bb.rm?start="00:04:20.0"

The timestamp "start=..." can be changed to start playing / recording at different times.

Also the port number (:554) can be removed if there are problems connecting.

Hi, thanks for the reply...i'm glad it works as it must be me, or rather my problems here that stops it. i am a complete newby on this, i understand what you have said and added the url given but it still doesnt connect. i wonder if it is something to do with the port number but i do not understand how to change this. are there any walk through type instructions or can anyone suggest how to do this. when i try to set this up i immediately get a media error message in the real theatre box and the recording stops. i changed the setting to url mode and it still doesnt record but it continually trys to reload the media file....any ideas please?

To remove a 554 port number you just have to remove :554 from the URL. You should get the following URL:

rtsp://rmv8.bbc.net.uk/news/olmedia/n5ctrl/tvseq/od/bbc1/bb/rm/video/panorama_bb.rm?start="00:04:20.0"

Please try to record it in the URL mode and let me know if the problem persists.

hi and thanks, i removed the port and used the url in url mode in wm recorder...it opened the recording box and then realmedia theatre player opened but almost straight away gave a mediaerror message, this then stopped the recording box and that is as far as i get...am starting to wonder if another recorder may work better...i am only using the demo wm recorder, until i get it to work for the 5 mins i dont want to purchse it...
hope someone can help out there. i have norton anti virus and firewall [as provided by my service provider] both are set up to allow acccess to the internet for all programs associated with this....
p.s. if i open realmedia player and enter in the file menu the url it connects straight away and plays the footage no probs....
thanks, i am wondering if a program that can record an area of the screen my be better as the file plays in media player, i may be able to record it this way..any ideas?

If you have problems with the Real Player, you may try to use free Real alternative or another version of the Real Player. Will try to get more from the developer.

WM Recorder brings up the Real Player before initiating any Real recording.
This is in compliance with US court decision (http://www.law.uh.edu/faculty/cjoyce/copyright/release10/Real.html) which states that "To gain access to a work [*19] protected by the Secret Handshake, a user must employ a RealPlayer, which will supply the requisite information to the RealServer in a proprietary authentication sequence".

A Real recording may not start for the following reasons:

Real Player does not accept downloading from a URL (the link was not clicked in the web page)
Real Player version is not 10 or higher
WM Recorder file rmrp.exe - RM Stream Recorder is blocked from accessing the Net by Internet security software (Norton, etc)
When in PRO Mode the ports 7774 and 7775 are blocked
When AUTO recording from a web page WM Recorder is not in AUTO ON mode or the option "Include ram, smil" is not checked in Media Options.
