Hi,

I am encountering a odd situation. Is there any way to remove the protection from a WMV video if the video is no longer able to obtain the license? I have these WMV videos that are 3-4 years old and had no problem playing the videos until last month. The video would obtain the license from the company web site and play the video. Unfortunately, the company suddenly is out of business and the web site no longer exists. When Windows Media player checks the web site for the license - no response.

Unless I am misunderstanding my forum research, it looks like you need at least a copy of the license key to remove the DRM? Since the company is gone and I legitimately can use the videos, is there a way remove the DRM without the license key?

Any help would be greatly appreciated.

You can remove DRM protection only if you have valid licences. One of the reasons legitimate customers remove DRM is that companies die living you without the ability to play legally purchased files.
