I've tried Chat Roulette and many other web-cam chats and all of them crash my Internet Explorer browser the moment I let it access my web cam. My web cam is functional, I used it for GTalk and Skype (http://all-streaming-media.com/non-streaming/Skype-Free-worldwide-calls-over-the-Internet-Cheap-international-phone-calls-to-landlines-and-mobiles-Windows-Linux-MacOS-X-Pocket-PC.htm).

I use an Asus Eee Pc, running Windows XP.

I have the same problem.

I got a new webcam yesterday, and I decided to experiment. It works perfectly.

However, when I go on Chat Roulette, it says - "Internet explorer has encountered a problem and needs to close.

Chat Revolve: "Internet Explorer has encountered a problem and needs to close."

Omegle: "Internet Explorer has encountered a problem and needs to close."

I"m pretty sure meebo will react the same way!

I even have Firefox and when I go on Chat Roulette there, it crashes!
Even for Google Chroma, EVERYTHING IS THE SAME!

What's wrong with these sites? Why can't I launch my webcam or even access the site! Is it my flash drive or shockwave or something?

Install the latest version of Adobe Flash Player.

You can also try other web-browsers like Firefox, Google Chrome and Opera.

If this doesn't help, try to use virtual web-cam software instead of your real web-cam.

If your camera was working before with online web-cam chats, you can try to recover your PC using a date when the flash player was working fine. You will need to reboot in Safe Mode for that.

Also try to disable your firewall, antivirus, anti-spyware, anti-malware temporarily. If it helps, then you may need to change their settings.

Another solution is to use Adobe Flash Player 9 instead of Adobe Flash Player 10.
