http://www.digitaltkonserthus.no/english/video-concerts/2016/01/arnold-schoenberg-gurrelieder/

This site streams an orchestral concert from Bergen. It plays well with Firefox, but I would like to download it. I have therefore downloaded 1072 segments to my hard drive, named from segment-1.m4s to segment-1072.m4s

It looks like MPEG-DASH, am I right? I have read up about MPEG-DASH, and it requires an MPD file to get started, doesn't it? The MPD file will indicate the names and properties of the segments, right? But the problem is, I cannot see an MPD file anywhere. I've looked in the browser caches, which do contain a number of binary files, none of which seems to contain the MPD information.

So, is there an expert who would kindly look at the site and find the MPD (Media Presentation Description) file, or suggest some way to play the video offline?

Thank you.

Thanks for your response, surya987. But when I try each of those three links I just receive the response "Access Denied". Do you know how can I overcome that and obtain those mp4 files?

Two further approaches I will try are 1) to use wireshark to find out what is coming down the line, or 2) make my own simple MPD using the information supplied at
https://www.brendanlong.com/the-structure-of-an-mpeg-dash-mpd.html

Is either of those likely to succeed?

Yes indeed stinkfoot; your suggestion works wonderfully well, thank you so much! I simply used the vimeo link you provided, with the YTD Video Downloader, and retrieved a single mp4 file of 2,134,758,202 bytes.

And in regard to surya987's suggestion of IDM, I installed the free trial version. It looks like it could be a useful program - but in the case of the first link it says "Cannot download this file - gone". I will explore it a bit, but thanks to stinkfoot's solution I am no longer worried.

A further response to surya987 in particular: Now IDM has "embedded" itself into Firefox, and I went to another concert at the Bergen site. A little blue IDM window popped up, saying "Download this video". I clicked on it, and the video was downloaded perfectly and quickly. So, many thanks to surya987! I now have two ways of downloading this music, whereas this morning I was struggling to find any. I will certainly keep IDM on my computer.

Yes, it appears Vimeo has segmented videos into dozens and dozens of .m4s files.

IDM and YTD may work for public Vimeo videos, but does anyone know how to download private Vimeo videos? For which I am a paying member of the private group and want offline access to these videos. I downloaded YTD and pasted the Vimeo link, but it fails to download - I'm assuming it's because only my browser cache has the authorization token to view the Vimeo video (as I logged into my account to view the private video in the first place).

Also, what is IDM?

Also, what is IDM?

IDM stands for "Internet Download Manager" - it runs only under Windows:

http://internetdownloadmanager.com/

It is easy to use and has many features and a lot of help text. I am very pleased to have discovered it from surya987's suggestion in this thread.

Not sure how this is meant to work. Some get stuck and just say starting and sit there. Any advice? Thanks.
