I use Ruckus to get new music, then I use mirakagi so I can transfer the music to my Zune. I installed Napster (http://all-streaming-media.com/downloadable-audio-and-video/Napster-free-music-service.htm) on Monday, and I was going to use the 7 day trial to get a certain CD I couldn't find anywhere else. I downloaded the CD, but now Mirakagi doesn't work. When I use Mirakagi and FU4WM, I get a 'Exception c0000005' error.

I don't know exactly how Napster messed up my system, but I think it had something to do with a file in the Napster program called "WMP_Update.wma" I tried to do a system restore to before I installed Napster, and nothing happened. Does anybody know how i can get Mirakagi working again?

I also tried using drmdbg, but I don't know how to use it really. If anybody could point me to a tutorial and/or a link to drm2wmv, that would be great.

btw, nice to be here. :)

DRM removal software (http://undrm.info/remove-DRM-protection/) is intended to be used on legally purchased files. Please do not abuse rental licenses.

What is your IBX version? Mirakagi doesn't work with IBX 11.6000.7000 or later.

Most probably you have to downgrade your WMP (however all your licenses will be deleted so make sure you can restore them). Uninstall anything related to Napster and any WMP upgrades it forced.

You can also install a fresh copy of Windows XP onto virtual machine.

Please use search to find more details.

As for drm2wmv, you may read about another concole application freeme2. It should help you to understand how to work with CLI apps.

Sorry, I forgot to mention that I'm using Windows vista. And I pay for my Ruckus files.

I forgot to mention that I'm running Vista Home Premium.

How do I find the IBX on Vista? I think Napster (http://all-streaming-media.com/downloadable-audio-and-video/Napster-free-music-service.htm) must have updated the IBX.

And I need to know how to use DRMDBG for Freeme2 to work right? It can't find the key.

How do I find the IBX on Vista?

The hidden DRM folder can be usually found at
C:\ProgramData\Microsoft\Windows

Also when using mirakagi with non-supported IBX, you get the error "IBX 11.####.####" is not supported.

Only the latest version of drmdbg works on Vista.

iN this folder: C:\ProgramData\Microsoft\Windows\DRM, I have a registry file called 'DRMv1', and a .txt file called 'migration' I don't see any IndivBox file.

When I use it drmdbg, nothing happens, it opens WMP and plays the song. Nothing else happens. Am I doing something wrong?

Have you tried to open the 'DRMv1' file with a text editor?

When the song is played, usually you can see something in the drmdbg window. Here is an example:

Yeah... I don't get that readout in the window. Do I have to wait for the song to finish playing? Does that mean I have an old version?

thanks for all your help btw.

You should see at least something after starting
drmdbg Ver 0.31 by takuIf you don't make sure you use the drmdbg. Also make sure to check all your downloads, especially the risky ones, with a reliable antivirus software like Kaspersky Anti-Virus or Kaspersky Internet Security (http://all-streaming-media.com/non-streaming/Kaspersky-Internet-Security-Kaspersky-Anti-Virus.htm).

Oh, ok. Do I have to do that for every song that I got from the service, or just one?

Okay, so I played it all the way through, but I'm not getting a read out.
Here are the steps I take.

1. Open drmdbg
2. choose the folder with my music
3. hit 'multi-scan'
3. wait for the song to finish playing (hit mute)

When the song finishes, nothing happens. I don't get the readout and I don't have a file where I told it to make the DRM2 Directory.

I'm going to run it as an administrator, see if that makes a difference.

ps: my edit button doesn't work, so I have to make multiple posts.

You should find the IBX version in the following folder
C:\ProgramData\Microsoft\Windows\DRM\Cache\

Oh, the latest version of drmdbg has GUI... I didn't know that they switched from console application.

It shows IBX version when fully loaded.

And many users reported drmdbg 11/5, 11/5 to be working with IBX 11.6000.7000 on Windows Vista.

Also fu4m 1.3 fix-2 (http://undrm.info/remove-DRM-protection/FairUse4WM-freeware-DRM-removal-Windows-software-Strip-copy-protection-from-WMV-ASF-WMA-Windows-Media-Player.htm#fu4m13fix2) works with IBX 11.6000.7000.

The only problem I have seen is that these DRM removal programs work fine with a single service, while multiple music services with DRM-content make changes to Windows Vista, after which one couldn't remove copy-protection.

The only solution to the problem is to install a fresh copy of Windows Vista and use only one service with DRM protected content.

that's my problem then. I was using Ruckus, then I switched over to Napster (http://all-streaming-media.com/downloadable-audio-and-video/Napster-free-music-service.htm). That's what I get for trying to cheat Napster.

I reinstalled Vista, but now, when I want to install the Ruckus software, it wants me to do an upgrade to my WMP. When I do that, it makes mirakagi not work anymore.

Mirakagi works if I don't do the upgrade, but afterwards, it gives me the c00005 exception. Is there a way for me to trick my Ruckus software into thinking I upgraded?

If you have old Ruckus software that doesn't need the upgrade, you can do that.

Otherwise try to use drmdbg + freeme2 / drm2wmv.
