As the title says, I'm trying to rip a video where when I try to rip the url that I get with URL Snooper it downloads a little video clip that says that the video is not available. I've tried several programs (NetXFer (http://all-streaming-media.com/record-video-stream/NetXFer-Saving-Windows-Media-Real-Audio-Video-QT-streaming-to-hd.htm), Orbit Downloader (http://all-streaming-media.com/record-video-stream/Download-manager-Orbit-Downloader-Record-HTTP-MMS-RTSP-RTMP-media-streams-Freeware.htm), Replay Media Catcher (http://all-streaming-media.com/record-video-stream/Replay-Media-Catcher-HTTP-RTMP-FLV-MP3-ripper-recorder.htm), WM Recorder (http://all-streaming-media.com/record-video-stream/WMRecorder-One-click-online-audio-video-stream-recorder.htm)) and they all do the same.

Any advice?

Replay Media Catcher (http://all-streaming-media.com/record-video-stream/Replay-Media-Catcher-HTTP-RTMP-FLV-MP3-ripper-recorder.htm) and WM Recorder (http://all-streaming-media.com/record-video-stream/WMRecorder-One-click-online-audio-video-stream-recorder.htm) can record most of the streams.

Please post or PM the URL of the web-site (and stream URL) so that we can try to record.

Unfortunately I wan't able to play it. I get the messages that I can translate, but most probably the web-site has country restrictions.

The stream DRM-protected windows media streams. The only streaming video recorder (http://all-streaming-media.com/record-video-stream/all-streaming-video-recording-software.htm) I know that can record DRM-protected Windows Media streams is WM Recorder (http://all-streaming-media.com/record-video-stream/WMRecorder-One-click-online-audio-video-stream-recorder.htm). So you can try to record with it in the PRO mode. However the problem is that WM Recorder doesn't remove DRM protection when recording. So depending on the restrictions that the content provider you may or may not see the recorded DRM protected file on your PC.

PRO mode gets the right clip, but it only records a few percentage of it, usually below 10 :( Is there anything that I can do?

Hi Danish,

As I don't have access to stream recorders inbox, would you mind posting the URL here so we can try it for you. If you don't want to post it here, that's fine and no explanation is required, but it would enable more people to help you if you can. :D

I can't post the link as it requires a user to watch it, and furthermore, the streams are restricted to danish connections. I will forward you the login information anyhow.

Hi Danish

I was unable to play it either unfortunately...I figured it was worth a try having two of us try it at least.

At any rate, for WMR let me offer some advice for recording from Password Protected sites, this may help:

First you need to capture the URL of the stream, since this is a password protected site you will want to run the program in PRO mode with AUTO ON, To set up WM Recorder this way:

1) Close your browser and Windows Media Player
2) Run WM Recorder
3) Click the blue button under "MODE" (should read ADA)
4) In the window that pops up, check the circle next to PRO mode, and make sure that the box next to Automatic Recording is checked.
5) Click "OK"

Now, navigate to the stream and begin watching it from your browser. Now, at this point WM Recorder will attempt to record, so click the "status" button in the main window of WM Recorder. If it shows no progress being made on the recording, go ahead and follow these steps:

1) Exit the recording session by pressing "Exit Record" in the recording window.
2) Click "View" in the main window of WM Recorder.
3) Click "Menu"
4) Click "Saved Links"
5) Click "Windows Media"
6) The URL at the VERY BOTTOM of the window is the URL of the stream.
7) Right Click the URL to bring up the menu.
8) Click "Add/Change Password."
9) Enter your Username and Password, and check "Remember Password."

I know it looks complicated but it's actually quite easy. :)

Reply from the developer of WM Recorder (http://all-streaming-media.com/record-video-stream/WMRecorder-One-click-online-audio-video-stream-recorder.htm)
You should use the PRO mode with "Auto Recording" enabled. The other modes don't work even if password is attached to the URL.

The saved URL is not valid (it is changed when you click the video link in the web page)

I saved a 1 minute sample of one DRM file at the link below

Upgrading to latest version seems to have helped a bit, BUT I'm still not able to save the entire clip. The ripping stalls after >50 % :( Have you managed to save the entire clip from the show I PMed you about?

Do you have any problems playing this stream or only recording it with WM Recorder (http://all-streaming-media.com/record-video-stream/WMRecorder-One-click-online-audio-video-stream-recorder.htm) in the PRO mode?

Only recording. When I try to rip it it has to buffer a few times during playback which I don't have to when watching without ripping.

Will try to ask the developer... 'coz I don't really know what causes the difference. In the PRO mode WM Recorder (http://all-streaming-media.com/record-video-stream/WMRecorder-One-click-online-audio-video-stream-recorder.htm) should just capture packets coming to your Windows Media Player.

to the topic starter:
is it mms media stream or just normal http stream?
if it is,try this tiny software
WebVideoCap (http://www.nirsoft.net/utils/web_video_capture.html)

it do the same as WM Recorder (http://all-streaming-media.com/record-video-stream/WMRecorder-One-click-online-audio-video-stream-recorder.htm)
do as they capture packets through the WMP when you're watching

make sure you check the "Keep the captured files opened until the capture is finished" in advanced box
choose winpcap driver in capture method is recommended :)

start capture before start the stream, and stop it after the stream is finished playing

Running WebVideoCap makes me unable to watch the stream. I'll try more thoroughly when I get home.
