So I've been running through the tutorials trying to figure out how to get a set of videos from nbc.com.

An example URL is http://www.nbc.com/minute-to-win-it/how-to/episode-114/back-flip/

I first used Wireshark (http://all-streaming-media.com/find-stream-URL/Wireshark-free-network-protocol-analyzer.htm) to grab the RTMP URLs, which I then verified were correct by using Grab++.

The RTMP URL that I come up with is:
rtmp://65.216.161.93:80/ondemand?_fcs_vhost=cp35586.edgefcs.net|ondemand?_ fcs_vhost=cp35586.edgefcs.net|nbcu/nbcrewind2/d3a8f866039c04f40089cc5e4b3becf5_0700|http://www.nbc.com/[[IMPORT]]/video.nbcuni.com/outlet/embed_4.5.2/extensions/inext_video_player/video_player_extension.swf?4.6.1|http://www.nbc.com/minute-to-win-it/how-to/episode-114/back-flip/&OBT_fname=d3a8f866039c04f40089cc5e4b3becf5_0700.fl v

I've tried a number of combinations using that URL, but RTMP just connects and gets reset by the server. Evidently I'm missing some variables or something, but I'm not savvy enough to figure out what I'm missing.

Some of the things I've tried are adding the -W option, with the URL listed to the SWF file above. I've tried adding the -f option to include my flash version (WIN 9,0,45,0) and some other variants of the -W option.

I just can't think of anything else to try.

I have used the demo version of Replay Media Catcher (http://all-streaming-media.com/record-video-stream/Replay-Media-Catcher-HTTP-RTMP-FLV-MP3-ripper-recorder.htm) and that program was able to capture the video contents but I don't have the 40 bucks to shell out for the program right now.

Any help is appreciated.

As for rtmpdump (http://all-streaming-media.com/record-video-stream/rtmpdump-freeware-console-RTMP-downloading-application.htm) you can use rtmpsrv and rtmpsuck, especially if you have (or willing to install) Linux

As recommended by the "Guru's" post from above, you should read all the different guides and workarounds available in this forum, and try all the available "potential" solutions.

Anyway, that particular RTMP stream you are talking about, is quite easy to download, and even without buy anything: use StreamTransport (http://all-streaming-media.com/record-video-stream/StreamTransport-Download-HTTP-RTMP-RTMPE-streams.htm).

I'm sure there are many other free and paid programs able to download this stream, but I just tested the said one, and it works ok. :cool:
