Okay never mind, It worked out. I followed milOtis' tutorial to use with FairUse4WM 2009-01-10, however now I get this warning in the very last step of removing the DRM:
C:\[milOtis] 2009-01-10 FairUse4WM DRM Fix\1234.wmv does not have a recognizable DRM header.
Please advice
Thanks

Have you re-acquired the license? Can you play the file?
Thanks for your reply ! (and for splitting this message from the other topic. You can delete the other one, my bad :o )
Yes, I can play the file without problems. How do I re-acquire the license ? I (should) have gotten a new license as I totally deinstalled my WMP and deleted my DRM folder so.. else I couldn't play the file I guess.
However I must say that I have copied the file from my Vista PC (which I use to watch video files onto) to my XP PC (which I want to use to remove DRM). However on both machines I can play the file without problems..
EDIT: Also if the extension is .asf I get the same error
Thanks !!

What IBX version do you have? Have you disabled automatic Windows updates?
You can also try to use drmdbg + freeme2 (http://undrm.info/remove-DRM-protection/freeme2-freeware-lossless-DRM-remover-for-Windows-Media-WMV-WMA-files.htm).

You can play the file, so you have a valid licence already.

Most .wmv files are just .asf files with a different file extension. Windows Media files for Windows XP and Vista should be absolutely identical.

I have IBX version 11.0.5497.6285 as stated in the tutorial of milOtis
Automatic Windows Updates are turned off
I didn't try drmdbg on this machine yet, but I've tried it before and found it quite hard to work with (didn't always work).
I know that .wmv and .asf are identical, that's why I changed the extension to see if that made a difference but sadly it didn't :(
I really have no idea what's going wrong here. I hope though you have :)
Thanks !

Unfortunately I have no idea how to help.
Try to delete the DRM folder, re-individualize and re-acquire licenses.
And try to use drmdbg.

I seriously do not know what's going wrong.
I just tried it again on another XP Machine (SP2) and it also won't work there, getting the same error.
I deleted DRM folder, re-individualize and re-acquire license numerous times but it doesn't make a difference.
I tried using it drmdbg but it just seems to be dead or something. It does nothing on my PC's (tried 3 different PC's). I can press multikeys as much as I want and everything is setup correctly

Eeh, how am I going to say this.. uum.. :o
I deserve to get the forumīs "D'oh" award (if you have one and know what I mean :D ).
Here is what going on: I tried removing the DRM from a file which didn't contain DRM protection at all :o ... but I have a good explanation for it :D
I bought and downloaded 2 seasons of a TV Show which contains DRM. However, of all the files, Episode 1 Of Season 1 does NOT contain DRM because it's free to download (as promo). For all other files you need to pay and therefore contain DRM.
Now you guess which file I was trying to remove DRM from... exactly from E01S01..
Why didn't I try an other file earlier ? I didn't know that E01S01 didn't contain DRM.. How I found out ? I rightclicked the file, went to the tab details and saw that under 'Security' it stated No... That made me suspicious and I started checked the other video files and they all stated 'Yes'. Then I googled and found out the reason for this as I said before.
So In short: I'm an idiot, Fairuse4wm works like a charm and this forum rocks. Thanks for helping this noob out. I really feel stupid.

I'm glad that you have solved your problem! DRM removal software should warn users when they try to remove DRM protection from files that don't have it.
