i want to save this episode :

but i cant save it,,,i have tried with WM Recorder (http://all-streaming-media.com/record-video-stream/WMRecorder-One-click-online-audio-video-stream-recorder.htm) and many.. but nothing do it.. what do u think? is this wmv is protected?

I have checked that site. downloading from the site is easy but you need valid license to play the DRM protected wmv files. this site uses simple http streaming but stream url's are little obfuscated.

After downloading when you try to play these files in Windows Media Player it will ask for the license like normal DRM protected files. if you have a valid license you can play it or try to unDRM it.

when you go to show info page it also gives you an option to download the file in .wmd format which is just a zip archive and contains protected wmv file and an asx file. this version is low quality version (791 kbps) and file downloaded from above direct url's is high quality (1233 kbps) version. But in both cases you need to buy valid license to play or unDRM it.

I have further investigated this issue. this site seems to contain three types of videos and all of them use http protocol. you just need to figure out the correct url of stream.

1. first type of videos are that in which video is protected by Microsoft DRM and requires valid license to play or unDRM. check my first post http://stream-recorder.com/forum/showpost.php?p=27643&postcount=5

2. second type of videos are that in which video is not protected by Microsoft DRM but it uses a custom encryption which can be decoded only by EdgeStream while playing the video. That's the reason why we were not able to play the downloaded video for following url:

3. third type of videos are that which are neither protected by Microsoft DRM nor by their own custom encryption. these videos can be directly downloaded and played.

i have downloaded the same video @ 700 kbps and yeah video plays upto around 21 minutes only but it's not my app fault. try to play that video directly from their site and video will play upto same point as downloaded video. so this video @ 700 kbps is broken on their server.

i will provide my app after some more testing though i have tested it on several videos and it works fine with all of them.

PS: EdgeStream automatically tests your bandwidth and starts streaming the detected bitrate. my app have no control over bitrate selection. it just saves whatever is being streamed by EdgeStream. so if you have faster connection then higher quality video will be downloaded.

"EdgeStream Dumper.exe" "esvp url" "output filename.wmv"

yeah ur right it needs a valid license for other episodes.. i have downloaded the other episode protected drm.. and i'll run with drmdbg.. and he gave me up the kid and sid.. and ive try to run dragging on freeme.. but nothing happens... i think the sid is wrong.. bcoz the video quality is blurred and noisy.!

If i understands you correctly then you are able to download and unDRM the files but video quality is low. is that right?

i think the sid is wrong.. bcoz the video quality is blurred and noisy.!

if your KID/SID is wrong or anything else goes wrong while unDRMing the video then your video will not be properly decrypted and will not be playable at all.

The reason for lower quality video may be that your connection is slow (or atleast EdgeStream plugin thinks so) and it starts streaming lower bitrate videos. in that case your only option is to stop my dumper app by pressing Ctrl+C and try again until EdgeStream plugin starts streaming at higher bitrate.

You don't need to run the setup batch file if you have EdgeStream plugin already installed. The reason of failure while registering the dll on Windows 7 64bit may be that EdgeStream.dll was taken from XP SP3 PC and was not compatible with your windows version. you can run the dumper app without any problem if you have compatible version of EdgeStreamer.dll already installed on your system.

i was glad to know that it worked as expected and helped you to dump the high quality drm free video.

You can paste the esvp url directly in cmd window too (right click and choose paste). i don't think gui will be any more useful because it will still require the esvp url and output filename.
