RTMPDumpt + RTMPDumpHelper no longer works with ABC News videos. Previously all i have to do was start RTMPDumpHelper and load the ABC News video in the browser and auto-magically it worked. Now RTMPDumpHelper no longer catches ABC News vids. Poking around with wireshark suggests they still use RTMP. So what could be going on that rtmpdumphelper is not working with ABC News?

I have wireshark and firebug already. I know how to DL Cspan videos. Is the process similair for getting ABC News videos?

i need a bit more guidance than that.

It seems that abc videos are divided into two categories.
As for the videos in the "section", you can get an url ending up with .mp4, like the sample link mentioned above.
However, the videos in the category of "show" are very different.
Firstly, you have to get an ip identified as in The US, and you can get the video played.
Secondly, those videos are going in html5 .

Take the following program for example:

http://abcnews.go.com/watch/good-morning-america/SH5587637/VDKA0_u4q29g58/gma-0505-special-olympics-athlete-miss-minnesotas-prom-date

I can only get an url like this :

http://content.uplynk.com/c4349d38ed7549bb8d2c6afd89d6dcb2.m3u8

There is no link ending with .mp4 at all.

I want to download the full shows - previoulsy with RTMPDump and Helper i could get full shows. Now obviously not. Can you tell me how to get the url for the a video in "section"

It would seem then that the full shows are not downloadable. I guess i will have to back to screen capping.

Use firefox.
before the video starts, turn on tools/web developer/web console,
put mp4 into the filter, and after the video starts, you will get what you want.
