I know this seems like a same thread. but, they are all old. I have been trying to download from hulu. but, it never worked. rtmpdumphelper doesn't even read the stream.
url snooper doesn't get the streaming url
video download helper plugin doesn't catch anything. I tried changing the user agent but that didn't yield results as well.
and when I try rtmpExplorer, it shows that IE is no longer supported and hence, i cannot get the video.
Please someone tell me how do I download from hulu and if some one knows how to get subs, that would be great too.

please do not say use 'getflv" or "record the screen".

I'm on windows 8.1 . Thank You

As much as you don't want me to say it, GetFLV is your best bet. Of course, you don't HAVE to buy it, if that's what you're worried about. It'd be able to rip the video form Hulu flawlessly (as well as in 3100K a.k.a high-quality 720p) as well as the subtitles.

GetFLV just works. It would be nice if they had content higher than 720p 2.0 3100K, but what can you expect for $8/mo?

thanx Biezom. That really helped out. Now, at least I can watch my K-drama with subs.
I am using getFLV,but, it is buggy and lags and hangs sometimes.I don't like it. But, I have to use it.

I see that there are rtmpdump command in there, but, i couldn't get those working either... hulu doesn't use SWF verification type 2, rtmpdump tries type 1 and it then fails. Any one know how to overcome this?

I can't seem to find the links provided by GetFLV in my WireShark capture. When playing back on different devices, I seem to get different URLs. GetFLV returns rtmpe://hulu-darwinfs.fplive.net ..., when I playback in a standalone browser I get links to http://ss-v-darwin.hulu.com...ism/QualityLevels..., on another device I get separate videoa and audio mp4s with tokens in the URL, but the files are encrypted.

Yes, same here. I tried urlsnooper. I can play the video in my browser (mozilla, chrome), but, urlsnooper wouldn't even show any rtmpe stream link. and getFLV works even if I am not in usa. How is that possible. This is crazy. I hope some one replies fast and their solution works

My guess is it has something to do with GetFLV's User-Agent and some scripting magic to convert/decode the content to alternate URLs. I can get .ism links from sniffing, but can't figure out how to capture the files. I can get the .mpd manifest, but its basically the same format as the .ism. I can sniff mp4's from other devices, but they are encrypted, so useless.

Ever tried with ismdownloader (http://forum.videohelp.com/attachments/18331-1371069363/ismdownloader.zip)?
It just might download it...
I even tried changing the user agent to mac os + safari, because I thought that hulu might give me m3u8 links for this config. But, looks like it doesn't.

It kept crashing when I tried the other day. I don't seem to be able to download an actual manifest for the .ism.

I'm more interested in decrypting the mp4's anyway because they are higher quality.

I have tried, but, you can't do it. Because when the mp4 is streamed, as you can see in the ismlinks, that there is a time period attached to the file. So, each mp4 file is served with certain amount of time and is valid only for that period of time. It's useless after that. As the file is discarded or something.

I don't think you can make the mp4 files work.

I think ismdownloader crashes because it can't access the Manifest.

on another device I get separate videoa and audio mp4s with tokens in the URL, but the files are encrypted.

When sniffing traffic from a different device, I can see the URLs with the actual video and audio files (1 file for each), and I can download them directly but they are encrypted. That's what I meant by seeking to decrypt the mp4s.

Yea, I understand what you mean. I've already tried all of that. You can't decrypt the files, that's what I am saying. Besides, how do you suppose to download each and every mp4..? It's too much of a work. I know some people use rtmpdump for it. Because someone told me that they do know how to use rtmpdump for hulu. But, they didn't tell me how. I guess they don't want their way to get out in public or spread it.

not 1 for for each fragment, 1 final video file and 1 final audio file. Video would be 1GB+ and audio around 60mb or so. I'm sure it can be done, but like you said, the methods are not disclosed publicly. I'm hoping someone drops me a PM one of these days ;)

I can't even get a link by using GetFLV, the video doesn't play in its browser, and GetFLV crashes on startup mostly... (Using Win8.1)
Additionally I'm using tvunblock.com as I'm not in US. Does this matter?

Yeah. Don't use any kind of VPN/Poxy and then try to access the website via getFLV. In the DNS settings, make it 'obtain automatically' and then try. Should work.
