View Full Version : Decrypting Hulu .smi subtitle files

I just managed to find the closed-captions from Hulu through my IE's cache. However, all of it's contents are encrypted. :confused:

This is what it looks like,

Is there a way that I can decrypt the smi file to use it as a subtitle? I need to use it urgently .

In the past, I used to be able to download videos and subtitles from Hulu using software like Wondershare AllMyTube, however, soon, all softwares like that failed to work. Then I changed to get_flash_videos with the hulu.pm plugin, and I was able to download the .srt file subtitle for a short while, and now it doesn't work too. I'm desperate. Is there a way to decrypt the smi file, or even better, a way to download subtitles from Hulu?

Use GetFLV and even when the videos don't download the Subs will be downloaded and decrypted.
Sometimes you need to use several links, because they don't work, but the Subs are great and just give it some time to process :)

Oh! I previously thought that GetFLV only downloads the video but not the subtitles! Let me go check that out now, thanks by the way! :)

Hey Barry,
I just installed GetFLV, however, it was only able to download the videos from hulu. I couldn't find any options on the software to download subtitles or closed captions. :confused:

By the way, there're some blanks in the subtitles, are those bugs?

I don't think those are bugs, but maybe some missing parts?
I never had any problem with it.

To Barry or Zhikuanzhao, can one of you explain how the subtitles get saved with the video on GetFLV? Or was the only way to do this to capture the video or use the RTMP Record Mode?
