AVS Video Remaker (http://all-streaming-media.com/edit-audio-video/AVS-Video-Remaker-Cut-unwanted-parts-and-remove-TV-ads-from-DVD-MPEG-124-video-files-without-re-encoding.htm) allows editing MPEG 1, 2, 4 files without re-encoding. Cutting unwanted parts and removing TV ads from DVD or video files recorded with various PVR, DVR & DVD camcorders (MPEG 1 and MPEG 2, MPEG 4 AVI files including DivX and XviD) becomes easy with a scene detection algorithm that saves your time by scanning video and splitting it into episodes. Leave the video scenes you need, delete the ones you don't.

AVS Video Remaker (http://all-streaming-media.com/edit-audio-video/AVS-Video-Remaker-Cut-unwanted-parts-and-remove-TV-ads-from-DVD-MPEG-124-video-files-without-re-encoding.htm) is a part of AVS Video Tools: Video Converter, DVDtoGO, Capture Wizard, Video ReMaker. AVS Video Tools allow you to convert, split, join, remove ads, edit, rotate, apply effects, capture, transfer, copy, rip and burn DVD and video files!

Video ReMaker has been updated. I can't say that it works perfectly, but it many cases it saves lots of time when removing ads (commercials) from my TV recordings.

There is one more feature that I haven't noticed before. After selecting areas of the video that you won't to delete, AVS Video Remaker (http://all-streaming-media.com/edit-audio-video/AVS-Video-Remaker-Cut-unwanted-parts-and-remove-TV-ads-from-DVD-MPEG-124-video-files-without-re-encoding.htm) allows to either save the rest as a single file or create multiple files. So the program can be used for splitting MPEG files without re-encoding them.
