I need to download some archived radio shows in MP3 (Winamp Media files) + I'd appreciate it if somebody could point me in the right direction.
The shows can be easily enough downloaded by just right-clicking the link
("save as"). Now, is there any program that would give me better audio quality, or should I just download them as is?
Also, what's a good program for converting these files to wav (so I can burn them to a cd)? Thanks.

If they can be downloaded, then there is no problem. You definitely won't get better quality by recording from sound card.
But you may use special software to simplify downloading process.
First of all you may try a download manager (http://all-streaming-media.com/record-video-stream/download-managers-with-streaming-media-downloading-support.htm). The most popular ones even if they're free allow you to click "Download All" and select files from the web-page with .MP3 extension.
Second of all you may try offline browsers like Offline Explorer Pro (http://all-streaming-media.com/record-video-stream/record-streaming-video-windows-media-and-real-video.htm#OEP). Not only can Offline Explorer PRO record complete web-sites or directories, but also you may use URL macros to download multiple files. What is macros? The following macros of Offline Explorer PRO
http://www.srv.com/dir/file{:5..127}.mp3
allows to download the following files:
http://www.srv.com/dir/file5.mp3
http://www.srv.com/dir/file6.mp3
http://www.srv.com/dir/file7.mp3
...
