I am trying to capture or rip video from MLB.tv and I cannot seem to do it. Using Camtasia or Quick Screen Recorder, I put the box over the streaming video embedded in an MSIE window running WMP, and the result is a black box with no output from both programs.

I tried using WM Recorder (http://all-streaming-media.com/record-video-stream/WMRecorder-One-click-online-audio-video-stream-recorder.htm), but it can't find the URL, and right-click -> Properties gives a fake URL to a commercial.

How the heck do you capture video from them? I remember I did it once, but no idea how it actually worked. Thanks.

Were you trying to record Windows Media live stream or Flash video stream from the old archive?

Try WM Recorder (http://all-streaming-media.com/record-video-stream/WMRecorder-One-click-online-audio-video-stream-recorder.htm) in the PRO mode for live streams.

As for Flash streaming videos, RTMP protocol might be used, that WM Recorder doesn't support. You can record rtmp:// .FLV video streams with a Flash stream recorder (http://all-streaming-media.com/record-video-stream/record-streaming-video-Adobe-Flash-FLV-videos.htm) like Replay Media Catcher (http://all-streaming-media.com/record-video-stream/Replay-Media-Catcher-HTTP-RTMP-FLV-MP3-ripper-recorder.htm).

Black screen problem can easily be solved:

p.s. please don't use abusive language in your posts.

I am watching archived versions, but they aren't in flash; all archived videos are in WM format. I tried the PRO mode, but it said "invalid URL." How can I find the URL? Right-click -> Properties gives me a fake URL to a commercial that precursors the archived film.

Can you record other Windows Media streams with WM Recorder (http://all-streaming-media.com/record-video-stream/WMRecorder-One-click-online-audio-video-stream-recorder.htm)? Have you tried the "Internet connection test" in WM Recorder?

You can also use other software to find stream URLs, for example freeware URL Snooper (http://all-streaming-media.com/find-stream-URL/Project-URL-Snooper-Find-the-actual-stream-URL-Free-download.htm)
