What is the best audio/video file conversion utility (http://all-streaming-media.com/convert-audio-video-files/)?

I really like the features that Xilisoft Video Converter (http://all-streaming-media.com/convert-audio-video-files/Xilisoft-Video-Converter-convert-WMV-ASF-MOV-QT-RM-RAM-RA-DV-SWF-AVI-MPEG-MP4-MP3-OGG-AAC-RA-WMA-WAV-AC3-M4A-DVD-3GP.htm) have, but unfortunately I see the same bugs over and over again for a very long period of time.

ATM I prefer to use a more reliable conversion software - Replay Converter (http://all-streaming-media.com/convert-audio-video-files/Replay-Converter-Audio-video-conversion-software-Windows.htm). It supports less formats, but actually it supports all the formats I really need. Besides it costs only $19.95. Perfect price for the results it provides.

Very stable converter with many useful features. Highly recommended!!!

Amasing, it can convert all video files to iPod, psp, zune, iphone, flv. Seems one does not need extra converters.

It is a tough question.

I rip DVDs with StaxRip, convert MPEG-2 TVrips into MPEG-4 (xvid / x264) videos with VirtualDub,...

I also used Nero (http://all-streaming-media.com/CD-and-DVD-burning/Nero-Burning-ROM-CD-DVD-HD-HVD-Blue-ray-disc-burning-software-Windows.htm) Recode for converting DVDs and MPEG-2 videos to MPEG-4 AVC files. I really liked that it could add DVD chapters to the video. Sometimes it is a must have feature and it was the only thing that stopped me from converting some DVD videos.


If freeware MediaCoder (http://all-streaming-media.com/convert-audio-video-files/MediaCoder-freeware-audio-video-conversion-software-for-Windows.htm) works fine for you and you are satisfied with its interface, you can use it.

Otherwise you should think about features you really need.

AVS Video Tools that includes AVS Video Converter (http://all-streaming-media.com/convert-audio-video-files/AVS-video-converter-Convert-video-WMV-ASF-RA-RM-MOV-QT-SWF-AVI-DIVX-MPEG-MP4-PSP-iPod-3GP-3G2-3GPP.htm) is a nice bundle. AVS Video Converter has so many features! Besides the video converter I regularly use AVS Video Remaker to cut off TV commercials.

There are things that I don't like in AVS Video Converter:

It doesn't support some formats.
I don't like the way it crops the video (and I don't wanna see black borders in my videos)
2-pass encoding requires me to set up each step (at least to change from first pass to the second one)
I need other products for DVD and audio conversion
