Hey. Not OP but thanks for the info. And where could I find this kaltura link? I have access to WatchESPN so no problem there.

Re: Anybody want to crack the new code of WatchESPN streams (with 7 bars of quality)?

I'm new to this, so bear with me.

I'm able to download the files using livestreamer, but when they are fully downloaded, I cannot play them back in VLC. They have no duration, are not seekable, and no video appears. The files are generally about 3-4 GB in size, and a preview of the video shows up in the icon and in Windows Explorer, but I cannot play it.

Any ideas?

I use wireshark to sniff out m3u8 url

You then need to copy the cookie and request from playlist.

Then play the HD-version from the playlist in ffmpeg. It can't play an adaptive playlist so you need to pick a quality level and stream that. You need the params from the original playlist url.

just replace playlist.m3u8?.... with hd.m3u8?...

or whatever the path is.

then pass the cookie with -headers

SM Player works great.

Then I use Handbrake to make it seekable and grab clips with Movie Maker or Quicktime.

Thanks guys.

I'm trying to get the ESPN videos with 7 bars but have no idea how to. Would anyone help me?

The first step is downloading LiveStreamer, which I've done.

I have no idea how to use it or get the code for a specfic WatchESPN vidoe.

Re: Anybody want to crack the new code of WatchESPN streams (with 7 bars of quality)?

From earlier in the thread

Instructions:
1.) Bring up your video you want to capture
2.) Bring up URL Snooper
3.) Ensure the Must Contain field in URL Snooper states http://content.uplynk
4.) Play the video—stop the video (close the viewer browser window) immediately when the URL Snooper collected the various URLs.
5.) Bring up livestreamer in the CMD prompt
6.) Create and enter the code:
livestreamer “hlsvariant://enter the URL from URL Snooper here” best –o name.ts
Remember:
--No space between the //and the URL
--End the URL with “
--Go over one space and best –o name.ts (could be lsu, vatech, etc—some term you can remember or find easily)
--For the URL, ensure you enter the URL that in the Protocol column, states:
http m3u8 file
(remove the x, p, or w in front of http should their be one)

Re: Anybody want to crack the new code of WatchESPN streams (with 7 bars of quality)?

Hey guys, Ive had a lot of luck so far with using livestreamer as described on Page 1...drop the download into VideoReDo and then cut the "commercials" out (which appear to just be a void of video and audio while the timecode ellapses in real time).

However, I recently downloaded a rather large file (19GB, about 10 hours long) that is not compatible with this method...VideoRedo shows it as just over 2 hours long, and every mux program Ive tried causes it to lose sync. Any other options for editing? I tried H264TS Cutter, but it wouldnt even load it (wouldnt load a normal sized WatchESPN file either).
